Description

a handwritten note is always in style

Meet “Washi”
(our leading lady)

The paper used in this note card set is our most beloved washi from Japan! Washi literally translates to “Japanese paper” and is commonly made from kozo, mitsumata and/or gampi natural fibers. Chiyogami (sometimes referred to as “yuzen”) is a specific type of washi highlighted by a beautiful pattern that  is silk-screened by hand, one color at a time. Here’s a little clip of the silk-screening process that we were able to capture when we were graciously invited to see how the magic happens! We think every type of washi is an undisputed “gem” when it comes to handmade paper!

Good Luck and Long Life
(why you may want to keep a set of these on hand)

In Japanese culture,  tsuru (cranes) are a sign of longevity and good fortune. Traditionally, they’re also considered a messenger of the gods. We think this is a perfect note card set to keep on hand for those happy occasions like weddings or births!

We named this print “Tsurue” which means crane in Japanese (and is named after one of our dearest friends!).

Real Life TINY Inspiration

“Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark.” –Rabindranath Tagore

One of my true, real life inspirations is my friend and miniature origami artist, Stacie Tamaki of Tinygami. She inspires me personally and creatively on so many levels and I’m so thankful that our paths crossed. I’ve included a recent video that she created showing just a snippet of the amazing work that her deft fingers are capable of. Now, I’ve seen her fold a tiny crane in real life just a foot away from me – and seeing the process with my own two eyes, did nothing to quell my disbelief about her insanely, magical powers! Just watch the video below and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

All “Noteworthy by Emi Ink” card sets are assembled in Hawaii.
