Sansei Aloha Shirt Greeting Card

$4.00

Did you know that Hawaiian style aloha shirts are commonly worn in Okinawa? So we HAD to include an aloha shirt decked out in bingata in our Sansei Collection – a humble nod to our Uchinanchu (Okinawan) roots! Bingata is an Okinawan resist-dyeing technique, typically applied to fabrics.

Description

a celebration of home, roots and a creative muse

The Sansei Collection embodies three things for Emi Ink’s founder, Stacey Emi Shiroma. It celebrates her island home (she was born and raised in Hawaii), her roots (her grandparents immigrated from Okinawa), and her creative muse (she finds endless inspiration during her travels to Japan). It is the seamless fusion of these three things that Stacey embraces through her experience as being “sansei” (third generation).
In the first Sansei Collection release, island-inspired themes were infused with Okinawan and Japanese design motifs.
