This Okinawan-style design is katazome-shi (also known as wazome), a traditional resist-dyeing paper rooted in kimono-making techniques. A wax-like paste is first applied through a stencil to block certain areas, followed by layers of richly colored inks. After each layer dries, the paper is rinsed, revealing the design where the paste resisted the ink. Finally, each sheet is washed, dried, and ironed flat by hand—resulting in a uniquely tactile finish that sets it apart from standard printed paper.
Kamato Green features a mix of organic shapes and traditional Japanese motifs in earthy green, warm yellow, and soft orange tones, accented by gentle waves of blue. The overall look is timeless, with a distinctly Okinawan spirit.
