Who is behind Emi Ink?
Emi Ink is a Hawai‘i-based stationery studio founded and operated by designer Stacey Emi Shiroma. Each piece is thoughtfully designed, assembled, and packed with care, drawing inspiration from Japanese aesthetics, storytelling, and everyday moments.
Will the product I receive look exactly like the photo?
Because each item is handmade, washi pattern placement may vary slightly from piece to piece. This is part of the charm of working with hand-assembled and hand-cut materials.
Do you restock sold-out items?
Sometimes. Some designs are seasonal or limited edition and may not return once sold out. If a favorite does come back, it will be announced in our newsletter or on Instagram.
Where do you source your washi paper?
Our washi paper is carefully sourced directly from Japan. Over the years, we’ve built trusted relationships with specialty paper makers and suppliers whose work aligns with our values and aesthetic. To honor those relationships, we keep specific sources private.
Do you sell your washi paper by itself?
Not at the moment—but it’s something we’re actively exploring. We’ve had many requests over the years, and we’re thoughtfully considering how to offer washi paper on its own in a way that aligns with our values and production flow. While it’s not available just yet, it’s very much on our radar for the future.
Do you accept custom orders or personalization?
At this time, we’re not able to offer custom orders, personalization, or design changes. This helps us keep production consistent and turnaround times reliable.
Do you sell items that are shown on Instagram but not on the website?
Occasionally you may see behind-the-scenes previews, works-in-progress, or event-only items. If you’re unsure about availability, feel free to reach out.
Do I need to create an account to place an order?
Creating an account at Emi Ink is optional, but it can be a helpful way to keep track of your past orders, revisit favorite items, and make future purchases a little easier. You’re always welcome to check out as a guest — the choice is entirely yours.
Where do you ship from?
Orders ship from O‘ahu, Hawai‘i.
Where do you ship to?
We currently ship within the United States only. At this time, we do not ship internationally.
Which shipping service do you use?
We ship via USPS Ground Advantage.
How much is shipping?
We offer flat-rate shipping of $9, or free shipping on U.S. orders over $95.
When will my order ship?
Most orders ship within 3–5 business days, unless otherwise noted on the product page. During sales, new releases, or busy seasons, processing times may be slightly longer.
Do you offer local pickup?
At this time, we do not offer local pickup.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the handmade nature of our products, all sales are final.
My order arrived damaged or incorrect—what now?
Please contact us within 3 days of delivery with a photo of the issue, and we’ll help resolve it.
Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?
If you need to cancel or adjust an order, contact us as soon as possible. If your order hasn’t shipped yet, we’ll do our best to help—but we can’t guarantee changes once processing has begun.
I entered the wrong shipping address—can you fix it?
Please message us immediately. If the order hasn’t shipped, we can usually update it. If it has already shipped, we may not be able to intercept the package.
Do you offer discount codes?
We no longer offer ongoing discount codes. This allows us to run fun seasonal promotions and special sales throughout the year.
Do you offer price adjustments if something goes on sale after I order?
We’re unable to offer price adjustments on past orders.
Do you include prices in the package?
No—prices are not included on packing slips, making it easy to ship orders directly to a gift recipient.
Can you include a gift note?
Yes! If you’re sending an order directly to someone else, you’re welcome to leave a message in the Order Notes field at checkout. We’re happy to include a handwritten gift note at no additional charge when requested.
Do you sell your products in any retail stores?
A small, curated selection of Emi Ink products is available at a few local Hawai‘i retailers. If you’re looking to make a quick purchase or prefer to shop in person, you may find select items at:

Please note that each shop carries a limited and rotating assortment, which may differ from what’s available online.
How can I hear about new releases and restocks?
The best way is to join our email newsletter and follow along on Instagram. New releases, restocks, and seasonal sales are announced there first.
Do you sell at in-person events?
Yes! Emi Ink participates in select Hawai‘i events throughout the year. Event schedules are shared on Instagram and (when possible) on our website.
Why is the shop sometimes in maintenance mode?
Emi Ink is a small business and largely operated by one person, so there are times the online shop is temporarily paused for scheduled maintenance, major updates, inventory work, large order volume, or travel. When this happens, closure dates are shared clearly on the website and on Instagram so you know what to expect.
