A journey to curate, create, and connect — through paper, place, and process.

Among ajisai in bloom — a moment of pause, reflection, and gratitude along the journey.

Hi, I’m Stacey Emi Shiroma – designer, founder of Emi Ink, and a third-generation Okinawan American (sansei) born and raised in Hawai‘i.

Where it began

Emi Ink began in 2005 as a custom design studio specializing in wedding stationery. Back then, my focus was on creating beautifully tailored pieces that honored each couple’s unique story. Nearly a decade later, that path naturally expanded into a line of paper goods shaped by my heritage, my love for Japanese design, and my home in the islands.

The work today

Today, Emi Ink features carefully designed stationery, paper goods crafted with Japanese washi, and thoughtful collaborations with local designers – each piece created to celebrate small moments and spark connection. My Okinawan roots and island upbringing are deeply woven into my work, and my travels through Japan continue to shape my creative process. From browsing old paper shops in Kyoto to discovering hidden design studios in Tokyo, those experiences live on in everything I make.

In 2025, Emi Ink celebrated 20 years – a milestone that filled me with gratitude. What continues to inspire me is the joy of designing pieces that feel meaningful, personal, and made with intention.

Thank you for being here – and for joining me on the Paper Trail I’ve been building, one piece of paper at a time.
