THE EARLY YEARS
As far back as I can remember, I’ve had a mad love affair with design + the creative process. Whenever I could turn the mundane into something inspired and new, I’d do it. It wasn’t until I was much older that I realized that publishing family newsletters and designing wedding invitations for one’s Barbie dolls was something quite special! I appreciate my family for indulging my imaginative play without batting an eye; I can easily recognize the creative thread that weaved itself in and out of my most cherished childhood experiences.

(How this same girl ended up earning a degree in accounting, I’ll never know! Just a tiny hiccup in my life’s journey, I guess!)

Inspired by a stroke of serendipity and a lifelong passion for indulging my creative side, Emi Ink was born!

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
Emi Ink was launched in 2005 with the hopes of providing my customers with beautiful, custom event stationery. What began as a heavy focus on wedding stationery, broadened organically into fine stationery that celebrated the art of putting pen to paper. I learned a lot about myself and how best to meet (and exceed!) client expectations during my 12-year stint in the wedding industry, but the most important thing I learned is that quality and authenticity should never be compromised.

THE PAPER TRAIL
Creating unique stationery for my clients meant that sometimes I’d go outside the box and introduce new textures and mediums into my work. This led me to discover my appreciation – and now, passion – for handmade paper from around the world…my favorite types hail from Thailand, Nepal and Japan.

Most recently, I dove headfirst into a journey of washi exploration throughout Japan. It’s this journey that has gifted me with some of the most amazing experiences of my life, both personally and professionally. Read more below!

THE FUN STUFF
Turning to retail full-time and becoming a bona fide “maker” has unleashed the creative beast in me, so to speak. I’ve found that sometimes this beast can get unruly, temperamental, and restless if I don’t feed it regularly. Travel and exploring new places has always been my “go to” muses, but I’m continually finding great sources of inspiration closer to home, too! I love to share anything and everything that inspires and sparks joy for me on Instagram, and I hope you’ll join me there so we can be inspired together!
